VSSL is part of Encalve, a community of studios and galleries on Resolution Way in Deptford. Alongside our artistic programmes, the space is also available to hire, with favourable terms for artists.
Glass fronted and with gallery walls, the space can flex as an exhibition, residency, studio, project, screening and performance space. There is the possibility of drawing a curtain (floor to ceiling) across the front window for privacy. Wifi and access to a communal kitchenette and accessible toilets are also included.
VSSL is funded by a mix of (infrequent) project grants, studio artist rent and short term rentals. We are a Community Interest Company - meaning any profit is reinvested in our work, with all income contributing towards the physical and digital running costs of the organisation, and our artistic programmes.

Accessibility: VSSL is accessed from Resolution Way via a raised, fenced path. There are 3 steps. Step free access can be found via the carpark on Tidemill Way. The studio entrance door is wide and wheelchair accessible. There is an accessible toilet within the studio block.
Additional services and staffing such as front of house, invigilation, photographic or videographic documentation, mentorship etc. can arranged with the VSSL team and collaborators in our network. You are welcome to staff your own events.

rates
- Commercial Rate: £1000 pw
- Independent Artist Rate: £350 pw
The minimum rental period is 7 days (usually Tuesday to Monday). Any install, de-install or work to right the space must be completed within the hire period.
Discounts for longer term bookings or in view of specific circumstances may be available in consultation with the team. We occasionally offer the space for reduced rates in gaps between programme. Join our mailing list for updates!
We charge a 30% damage deposit, refunded on satisfactory check out. The space should be returned in the condition it was offered.
Where event staffing is requested, rates begin at £16p/h with a 4 hour minimum call.
